Young Chess Enthusiasts from the Amulsar Surrounding Communities Celebrated June 1 in Jermuk Around the Chessboard

As part of the international chess tournament “Stepan Avagyan Memorial Tournament: Jermuk 2026”, currently taking place in Jermuk, Lydian Armenia, with the support of its partners, Jermuk Ashkharh Health Resort Center and the Chess Academy of Armenia, organized the “Lydian Armenia Chess Cup” tournament on June 1 for children from the Amulsar surrounding communities.

Forty children from Gorayk, Saravan, Vayk, Gndevaz, Kechut, and Jermuk tested their skills in a series of chess matches. During the opening ceremony, international grandmaster Aram Hakobyan greeted the participants and wished them success.

The tournament concluded with an awards ceremony honoring the top performers with medals and gifts. International grandmaster Shant Sargsyan personally presented the awards, inspiring the young participants and encouraging them to pursue their passion for chess.

The “Lydian Armenia Chess Cup” was not only an exciting competitive event but also a wonderful celebration for children, bringing together young chess enthusiasts from different communities and giving them the opportunity to mark their special day in an educational and enriching environment.
