Amulsar is being built as Armenia’s first fully digitally integrated gold mining operation. From the open pits and the heap leach facility to the control room and the back office, every major system is designed to be sensed, measured, and managed in real time — because that is how Lydian Armenia delivers on the commitments we have made to our people, our communities, and the Republic of Armenia: to operate safely, responsibly, and transparently, to international standard.
At the heart of the operation is a modern control and instrumentation system covering crushing, conveying, heap leaching, and the adsorption-desorption-recovery plant. Process parameters are continuously monitored, automated control loops manage strict set-points, and leak detection is built into tanks, pipelines, and heap-leach liners. Surrounding it is a continuous environmental monitoring network — water, groundwater, dust, air quality, meteorology, and the geotechnical behaviour of the Barren Rock Storage Facility — logged centrally and reported in line with Armenian regulatory requirements and the commitments of our Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA).
A modern fleet of Caterpillar 789D haul trucks and a Cat 6040 face shovel, equipped with high-precision GPS, payload, tyre,and vehicle-health telemetry, is dispatched and maintained through a central fleet management system. Operators train first on full-scale simulators from Immersive Technologies — a first for Armenia — before sitting in a real machine, practising routine operations, adverse weather, and emergency scenarios that cannot be safely rehearsed on site. Much of this work is already being done by Armenian professionals, and through internships, graduate development, and partnerships with Armenian universities, we intend to keep it that way.
Connecting all of this is a purpose-built digital infrastructure: fibre connectivity from near by towns, a resilient on-site network, and a properly segregated architecture between business IT and operational technology. Cybersecurity is treated as an operational discipline, aligned with recognised international standards including the ISO/IEC 27001 family for information security and IEC 62443 for industrial control systems, and supported by the engineering and governance standards of our parent company, United. Protecting our systems is how we protect our people, the environment, and the data of the Armenian citizens and partners who trust us with it.
